The Foundations in Corporate Sustainability course by UN Global Compact Network Singapore (UNGCNS) equips professionals with essential ESG knowledge, practical tools, and global insights to build resilient, responsible businesses.

Part of the Enterprise Sustainability Programme (ESP), this 2-day course helps companies, especially SMEs, kickstart their sustainability journey. Graduates also gain access to the UN Global Compact community and exclusive resources to continue their growth.

FOUNDATIONS IN CORPORATE SUSTANABILITY

Understand what sustainability is and how it drives business competitiveness. Day 1 will provide insight into the global and local drivers accelerating sustainability and how businesses can identify and understand the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) related opportunities and risks. In addition to exploring how material issues can impact business strategy as well as the importance of Governance, the session will introduce how-to frameworks such as the UN Global Compact Management Model and easy to use onboarding tools such as Responsibility Index Communicator for Enterprises (RICE) Tool.

Operationalisation of Sustainability into Business Practices

Building on the Environmental and Social topics, Day 2 will explore stakeholder expectations, measurable indicators and potential action plans and goals that can be undertaken to become more sustainable. Under the Social agenda, participants will be introduced to human and labour rights concerns which are especially prevalent in supply chains. The Environmental segment will unpack global and local concerns including topics such as climate change and decarbonisation as well as the impact of Singapore’s Green Plan 2030. Participants will also be introduced to the Carbon and Emissions Recording Tool (CERT) to learn how to take first steps in understanding their emissions.

Getting Started with Sustainability Reporting

Building on in-class activities in the first two days, this session will guide participants on how to strategically communicate performance and address stakeholder information needs. Understand the landscape of sustainability reporting, assurance and certifications; mobilise tools provided in the course (RICE and CERT) to kickstart reporting as well as tap onto reporting frameworks such as the GRI Universal Standards.

Duration Of The Course

 

Fee (subject to prevailing GST on the full rate)

The course duration is two (2) days.

Full Fee : S$1500

Subsidised fee *: S$450

*Enterprise Singapore co-funds 70% of the workshop fees for participants, capped at 3 per eligible company for all ESP sustainability workshops.

Subsidy is applicable to all business entities registered and operating in Singapore. This excludes (a) non-pro t organisations and charities (registered as public companies limited by guarantee); and (b) foreign companies operating in Singapore (registered as branch or representative offices).

The subsidy also applies to employees of Trade ssociations and Chambers in Singapore


Learning Activites

The classroom learning will be facilitated by e perienced industry professionals. This will be complemented by guided use of tools to accelerate practical application and peer learning opportunities


Certificate

Upon completion, participants will be awarded a certi cate of completion by UN Global Compact Network Singapore

The Enterprise Sustainability Programme (ESP) supports Singapore businesses on sustainability initiatives and to capture new opportunities in the green economy.

These courses aim to build awareness and knowledge of sustainability amongst local business leaders and enable participants to access tools and resources to help them assess their current sustainability readiness and
performance. It serves as a foundation to help local enterprises build capabilities for the green economy and develop a clear plan for sustainability efforts.

Each individual will only be supported to participate in these sustainability courses once.

Company is liable to make full payment for the course fees if company or participants are found to be ineligible or fail to complete the course.
