About RICE

Beyond financial information, corporate sustainability has emerged as one of the most important factors considered by consumers, shareholders, investors, current and prospective employees, and other stakeholders when evaluating companies.

The UNGCNS’ Responsibility Index Communicator for Enterprises (RICE) tool provides a snapshot of the sustainability efforts of a company, enables measurement of responsible business practices, and indicates areas for improvement.

RICE has been designed to map a company’s sustainability efforts to various international sustainability standards, including:

  • United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Ten Principles
  • Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
  • International Labour Organization (ILO) Multinational Enterprises (MNE) Declaration
  • United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)

How RICE can help

  • Provides a snapshot of your company’s sustainability efforts
  • Built-in performance scoring that enables you to track your company’s sustainability position
  • Indicates areas of improvement and suggests where and how your company can improve on its sustainability efforts
  • Provides a summary document of your company’s sustainability efforts, which can be used to communicate to your stakeholders
  • For UNGC/UNGCNS members, the RICE report is sufficient for United Nations Global Compact’s (UNGC) Communication of Progress (COP) purposes

With built-in performance scoring that enables you to track your company’s progress and gaps, RICE quantifies your company’s efforts against key international sustainability standards and provides a document for presentation to stakeholders or regulators on your company’s efforts.
